BBC highlights the conservation work of Vitória da Riva, responsible for creating the RPPN Cristalino, in the Alta Floresta region, Mato Grosso state. Currently, the reserve protects more than 11,000 ha of forest in the southern Amazon, in one of the regions most threatened by deforestation of this biome.
The Cristalino reserve was one of the filming locations for the BBC series Earth’s Great Rivers, where João Paulo Krajewski and Roberta Bonaldo filmed otters, tapirs, butterflies, macaws and other emblematic animals of the Amazon. As part of the behind-the-scenes material for the series, the BBC released the video below, which shows some of Vitória da Riva’s work, and the beauties of the Cristalino Reserve.
