The islands of Hawaii were formed by the activity of volcanoes over millions of years. Even now, the largest island in the archipelago is still growing due to the activity of volcanoes such as the Kilauea, active since the 1980s. However, the form and place where the lava is dumped varies from time to time. I waited for years for the moment when the lava from Kilauea was flowing into the sea. When that happened, I traveled right away to the island, where I was able to photograph the incredible contrast of the blue sea with the glowing lava leaning over the sea.
